User Manual

The DWI User Guide is a comprehensive resource designed to support the administration, scoring, and interpretation of the DWI. Developed by Monash University in partnership with the University of Sydney and Flinders University, the manual outlines how the DWI can be used to assess wellbeing outcomes that matter to people with disability. The manual also provides guidance on administering both the Standard and Easy English versions of the questionnaire.

The User Guide details the preference-based scoring system derived from a discrete choice experiment with NDIS participants, offering clear instructions on calculating DWI scores based on participants’ responses. It also explains how to handle “Not applicable” responses and provides examples to support consistent application. With sections on accessibility considerations, optional wellbeing importance questions, and scoring alternatives, the guide serves as a practical tool for researchers, service providers, and policymakers aiming to use the DWI for monitoring outcomes, service improvement, and policy evaluation.
